Purpose and description of task (project)
Development of a technology that reduces the consumption of sulfuric acid and chemical reagents in difficult mining and geological conditions
Technological process / Leaching technique
As a result of the interaction of sulfuric acid with clay minerals, the filtration characteristics of the pore space deteriorate and the productivity of production and injection wells decrease, and the productive uranium-containing solution is diluted with reservoir waters. This is caused by sedimentation and clogging of the pores of the ores of the productive horizon with chemical and mechanical impurities formed as a result of chemical reactions or mechanical transfer of particles, and swelling of clay minerals. As a result, the period of processing of technological units increases, the consumption of sulfuric acid and chemicals, electricity, and other operating costs at the stage of processing units increases.
Direct results: - determination of physical and chemical characteristics of ores in difficult mining and geological conditions; - development of rational parameters for uranium leaching in difficult mining and geological conditions using an oxidizer and complexing agents to reduce sulfuric acid consumption by 10%; - conducting pilot tests on uranium leaching in difficult mining and geological conditions with the aim of increasing the uranium content from 10 to 20% for a long time; - shortening the period of technological development blocks by 20%, which will reduce operating costs and increase the economic efficiency of uranium mining by 5%.
