Type of product

the introduction of modern methods for processing geological information based on AI technologies to translate data into a machine-readable format suitable for storage and analysis

Problem description

The lack of digital geological information in a machine-readable format creates a number of problems for subsurface users. 1. The impossibility of operational analysis and forecasting Digital maps and data, especially in machine-readable format, are the basis for mining analytics, forecasting, and decision-making. Such data makes it possible to automate the processes of inventory classification, structuring, and forecasting. In the absence of such data, disruptions in analysis and decision-making are inevitable. 2. The complexity of data access and low investment attractiveness When geological materials are available only in the form of paper reports or images, they are unavailable for performing spatial queries and analysis, which significantly complicates the work of subsurface users and reduces the attractiveness of regions for investors. 3. Limited opportunities for teamwork and exchange of geodata

Expected effect

As a result of the implementation of the developed subsystems, a significant improvement in the processes of processing and storing geological information is expected. The main expected effects include: • Improved data recognition accuracy – at least 90% for automated extraction of information from scanned artifacts. Within the framework of this Technical Specification, the maximum number of processed artifacts does not exceed four file types. • Economic impact

Purpose and description of task (project)

The aim of the project is to introduce modern methods of processing geological information based on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to translate data into a machine-readable format suitable for storage and analysis. The project will also develop a data warehouse and ensure its integration with the subsystem for digitizing geological information. Using computer vision technologies, automate the process of recognizing and digitizing elements of geological maps in horizontal and vertical representations, taking into account the scale and specifics of the designations. • The main directions within the framework of the project are: Development of a subsystem for text recognition (OCR) and computer vision for graphic data; • Development of a subsystem for a unified data model and a repository of digitized geological data. As part of ensuring confidentiality, all project participants will sign Non-Disclosure Agreements. Information that is not classified as secret or confidential is used to perform work related to this Technical Assignment. Data related to current contracts and licenses is not included in the project. The details of the requirements of this Technical Specification are subject to clarification at the research (Discovery) stage as part of the Contract execution. Based on the results of the research stage, changes and additions are possible, which are subject to registration in the form of additional terms of reference and are an integral part of the Terms of Reference.
