Problem description

The problem of formation of small fractions during crushing and fractionation of ferroalloys is an important aspect of optimizing the production process. Ferroalloys require high uniformity and a strictly defined granulometric composition. However, the existing crushing and fractionation processes are accompanied by the formation of significant amounts of fine fraction, which leads to a number of technological and economic problems. First, small fractions have limited use in metallurgy. Their use in the melting process is accompanied by increased losses, since small particles of ferroalloys are more easily carried away by slags and gases at high temperatures. This reduces the efficiency of their use and increases the specific consumption of the alloy, which directly affects the cost of production. In addition, crushing and fractionation are accompanied by significant energy consumption, especially during the processing of ferroalloys. The high load on the equipment leads to its rapid wear and the need for frequent replacement or repair, which also increases production costs. Thus, the problem lies in the need to develop technologies and equipment that would minimize the formation of fine fractions during crushing and fractionation of ferroalloys.
