Technological solution

The problem of reducing the loss of ferrochrome with slags and increasing its yield to the ingot is one of the key tasks. Current technologies are often accompanied by significant losses of metal in waste, especially in slags, due to both technical and technological factors. One of the main reasons is the difficulty of completely separating metal and slag. The characteristics of the slags, such as their high viscosity or inappropriate chemical composition, make it difficult to isolate ferrochrome. As a result, some of the metal remains as inclusions in the slag, which leads to its loss and the need for re-processing. Incomplete reduction of chromium oxides during melting also contributes to an increase in the proportion of ferrochrome, which does not pass into metal and remains in the slag. An additional complicating factor is the high energy consumption of current processes. Since the production of ferrochrome requires significant resources, any losses lead to an increase in the cost of production.
